Green Week: recycling and care for the environment

11 photos

Teaching children to protect the environment is the same as showing them how to build a safe and healthy future. With that in mind we gave a whole week to nature and recycling.

Environmental education only works at this age if it stays concrete. An eight-year-old is not frightened by statistics, but understands perfectly well what it means to put paper in one bin and plastic in another, every day, without being reminded. The habit is formed by repetition, not by warnings.

And when the gesture becomes routine at home too, it passes further on — in this respect children are the most persistent teachers their parents will ever have.
