We took a fascinating journey inside the human body.
Together we discovered how organs, muscles, bones and senses work. We talked about the role of the brain and about how we feel pain, touch, taste and sound — and the children were captivated by every detail. The body has the advantage of always being to hand: any explanation can be checked on the spot, on your own hand or your own pulse.
We created an educational book about the body's systems together. When you have to explain something in writing, for someone else, you find out at once what you have truly understood and what merely seemed clear.
Then we played "Human body maths", where the children learned through play how many bones an adult has, how many muscles we use when we smile and how many skin receptors help us feel touch. Big numbers suddenly become interesting when they are about you.
And to put the senses to work, we ran a STEAM tasting activity: sweet, sour, bitter and salty, all tested with great curiosity and good humour. Bitter produced, as usual, the most spectacular reactions.
