Children's Day at PlusKids: lemonade, an inflatable slide and dancing

21 photos

Children's Day at PlusKids was full of good cheer, smiles and colourful activities.

We had summer treats: our lemonade stand, watermelon, pineapple and a great many other fruits. The attraction of the day, though, was without question the giant inflatable slide — not a trace of fear, only courage and excitement on the faces of our little adventurers, who went back to the queue every single time.

It was a day of play and movement: team games, sack races and ball games. The sack race deserves a word of its own, because it is one of the few contests where the fastest child does not win automatically — balance and rhythm decide it, and that turns a group's usual hierarchy completely upside down.

Then came the artistic moments: the children coloured and drew, creating their own small masterpieces, which we then hung in an exhibition. A drawing on the wall has a different standing from one folded into a school bag; children come back to it, show it to their parents and compare it with their classmates', usually without a trace of envy.

Music, cheerfulness and dancing filled the air, and for a touch of magic we had soap bubbles drifting across the yard.

It was a joy to welcome no fewer than a hundred children, who delighted in all the surprises we had prepared. Our thanks to everyone who helped make that day, and above all to the children, for the enthusiasm they share with us daily.

Right after 1 June came the next adventure: Summer School. https://pluskids.ro/en/summer-school
