Water means life. With that thought we marked World Water Day at after school.
It is one of those topics that look obvious and turn out surprising. Water is everywhere in a child's life — at the tap, in a bottle, in the bathroom — and that is precisely why they never think about it. And once you start counting what we use it for in a single day, the list never ends.
From there the good questions come naturally: where does tap water come from, where does it go once it drains away, why is it called a limited resource if the planet looks full of it. These are conversations you can have with eight-year-olds without simplifying too much.
