As a natural evolution of the PlusKids project, we have set up the PLUS for Education Foundation — an educational project through which we aim to support access to quality education.
A few of the foundation's objectives are worth mentioning from the outset.
The scholarship programme: awarding grants to deserving pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds so that they can continue their studies. It is the most direct form of support, because it removes precisely the obstacle that usually halts a promising path.
Tutoring and mentoring: connecting pupils with mentors or tutors who can support them in their learning, especially in the subjects where they struggle. Very often, the difference between a pupil who gives up and one who catches up is a single person patient enough to go through the explanation again.
Promoting non-formal education: workshops, courses and camps on a wide range of themes, from art to science, to nurture pupils' passions and interests outside the traditional school setting.
Digital learning platforms: developing or supporting online platforms where pupils can find educational resources, courses and tutorials.
Support networks for parents: seminars and workshops through which parents receive good practice for supporting their children throughout their schooling.
These directions complement one another: a scholarship solves access, mentoring solves continuity, and support for parents means the effort does not stop at the classroom door.
