On Education Day we celebrated with extra tuition in Romanian and maths, together with the second-grade children.
At PlusKids we put education first and believe that a solid foundation in the early school years is essential for later results. Second grade is precisely the year when much is decided: handwriting settles, reading is consolidated and the first operations appear that require a step of reasoning rather than memorising. A gap left now is felt in every year that follows, because the subject matter is built strictly one layer on top of another.
Every child has the potential to succeed. We support them both morally and through additional activities, so they can fill in what they missed at school and consolidate what they already know.
Education is not only the accumulation of knowledge but also interactive practice at the board and work in teams, through which children build self-confidence and the ability to think critically. Going up to the board carries a special value at this age: it is the first setting in which a child defends their answer in front of others and learns that they can be wrong without anything terrible happening.
The extra tuition sessions were offered to the children enrolled in the before and after school programme.
