In October 2021 we had good news to share: we took over the vacant plot on the school alley, right across from the existing PlusKids after school.
There we were to lay out 800 square metres of green space, with lawn, park and a playground for the children, as well as a new building for the expansion of PlusKids. The space was to be available only to children studying at PlusKids, so that they would have the best possible conditions, room to move and outdoor activities during the after-school programme.
The reason is simple, and every parent knows it. A child who has sat at a desk for six hours cannot sit straight down to homework: they need first to run, to shout, to move. If they get the chance to do so, the forty minutes of homework that follow go twice as fast; if they do not, those minutes stretch out endlessly, with the pencil turning between their fingers.
A space of one's own, right beside the building, changes something else too: going outside no longer depends on a journey or on booking a slot, but becomes a natural part of the day, every day the weather holds.
