Winter has arrived at PlusKids, and the day's activities naturally moved around it.
We talked about the winter season, exploring the beauty of snow and the wonder of snowflakes. The snowflake is one of the best subjects for observation at this age: it has six arms, it melts if you hold it in your palm too long, and it never quite matches its neighbour. We made snowmen, so beloved by the little ones, using our imagination and our nimble hands. A snowman has a clear structure — three spheres of different sizes, stacked in order — and that is exactly what makes it a good exercise: it calls for proportion, balance and a little planning before you stick on the first piece.
Then we carefully got our boots ready, and Saint Nicholas did not pass us by, bringing joy and genuine smiles. At this age, tradition plays a role we tend to overlook: it gives the year a set of fixed, awaited landmarks that organise time better than any calendar.
