In the season when the arrival of spring is celebrated, we organised special Mărțișor activities and a colourful fair.
The children made mărțișoare and handed them out at the fair, and with the parents' support we were able to offer them a helping of joy at the end, in the shape of a pizza party.
The lesson of the day was not about mărțișoare but about the road from work to result. Each child made part of something that did not stay with them: they cut, glued, tied the thread and then handed the object to someone else. And the party at the end was not a gift out of the blue but the natural conclusion of something made together. At their age, that link — if we work, something comes of it; if we work together, something bigger comes of it — is far better understood by living it than by hearing it explained.
The fair brought its share of courage too: standing at a table, talking to someone older than you and explaining what you have made. For many children this is their first real trade, and the excitement shows.
