It was a storybook day, quite literally. We celebrated International Reading Day with plenty of lovely stories, curious voices and eyes that lit up with every page turned.
We read and retold, we drew and we played, taking our cue from favourite characters. We also built sentences with the PlusKids app at https://cuvinte.pluskids.ro, where constructing a correct sentence becomes a game of pieces that have to be put in the right place. For children who still find handwriting hard, this format takes the effort of writing out of the equation and leaves all their attention on what matters: word order and meaning.
For us, Reading Day is more than a date in the calendar. It is a chance to show children that a book is not homework but a place you can step into whenever you feel like it.
And because the sun was on our side, we took our good spirits outdoors and carried the fun on in the park.
We enjoy every day we spend learning together.
