Happy 2023! A year of projects, homework and discoveries

At the start of every year we set ourselves goals. With confidence and enthusiasm we make big plans, full of optimism and of the wish to learn.

But how do we make sure we actually reach them? For a school year, the answer looks much like the answer anywhere else: through small things, done consistently. That is why our year starts with the routine — homework, exercises and tests, in the same slot, every day. The routine is not the spectacular part of the programme, but it is what holds everything else up: a child who knows that this is the hour for work stops negotiating every single time, and the energy that is saved goes into the task rather than into putting it off.

On top of the routine come the projects. We open the year with many educational activities chosen to build skills that suit each child's age: for the youngest, attention, motor skills and the first habits of working in a group; for the older ones, free expression, critical thinking and responsibility for their own results. The difference between a good year and an ordinary one lies exactly there — not in how many activities are run, but in how well they fit the child doing them.
