It was a creative week, full of play, discovery and new friendships.
We built worlds from LEGO and brought ideas to life through coding, then stepped into adventures in Minecraft and Super Mario. The leap from plastic brick to code is not as large as it seems: in both you build something from small pieces, in a particular order, and check on the spot whether it worked. A child who has grasped that one wrong instruction spoils the whole result has already grasped what debugging means.
Day after day the activities tested their imagination and creativity, and the children rose to it splendidly. The best moments were the ones where something did not work first time and had to be redone — that is where most of the learning happens.
We learned English too, but not in the usual way: through games, funny challenges and conversations that made them forget they were learning at all. That is precisely the point: at their age, English sticks far better when it is used than when it is studied.
And the most eagerly awaited moment of each day was the PlusKids raffle — high excitement, applause and prizes that made the children's eyes shine.
