We closed our week of financial education with a classic: Monopoly.
The children negotiated, invested and learned what it means to make smart decisions with money — all through play and good cheer. Monopoly has an advantage no worksheet can match: mistakes cost immediately and visibly. Whoever spends everything at the start is left with nothing a few turns later, and that lesson needs no explaining. Along the way we talked about rent, about saving, and about why it is sometimes worth turning down a deal that looks good.
Our heartfelt thanks to the AIESEC volunteers, students from every corner of the world, who brought energy, diversity and enthusiasm to every activity. They do not merely talk and play alongside the children; they open a window onto a wide world full of new ideas and perspectives. For many of the children this was the first conversation in English with someone who genuinely does not speak Romanian — the best possible reason to try.
