This week's activities aimed at consolidating core skills — the ones everything else rests on.
Building numbers from 0 to 1000. The children practised reading, writing and decomposing numbers, gaining a better grasp of the decimal structure. This is where it is decided whether a child will later work with ease or with stumbles: the one who understands that 348 means three hundreds, four tens and eight units will carry out additions with regrouping without difficulty.
Punctuation marks. We learned how to use the full stop, the question mark and the exclamation mark correctly, in order to write clear and expressive sentences. We read the same sentence with different intonations, so they could hear why the mark at the end matters.
Comparing numbers. Together we discovered how to establish "less than", "greater than" or "equal to", starting from the number of digits and only then comparing place by place.
Rounding numbers. We understood how and, above all, why we round — because in everyday life a quick estimate is often more useful than an exact calculation.
All these exercises contributed to developing logical thinking, correct expression and the children's confidence in what they know.
