Happy anniversary, Romania. We too marked 24 January, the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities.
In primary school, history enters best through things that are done rather than dates that are memorised. That is why this day is celebrated the same way everywhere: with the tricolour and the hora of the union, hands joined, in a circle. Children remember a song danced together far better than a year written on the board — and the year then follows of its own accord, attached to a memory.
