The first day at PlusKids, before and after school. Every success to all the children in the new school year.
The first days are always about something other than learning: who sits where, what the teachers are called, when we eat, where things go. The sooner those answers arrive, the sooner a child settles and can get on with what they came to do.
So in the first week we deal more in landmarks than in homework: the same place, the same order of the day, the same rules stated simply. For young children, predictability is the best form of security.
