Autumn had properly arrived, and the pumpkin became the perfect inspiration for a day full of colour and creativity.
The children explored the world of pumpkins through educational activities designed to stir curiosity, imagination and skills. We turned this orange vegetable into a pretext for learning through play — and it is an unexpectedly rich pretext: you can count, measure and weigh, compare sizes, count the seeds, draw, tell stories and talk about the seasons, the harvest and why certain vegetables only appear in autumn.
Every activity was a chance to practise patience, teamwork and critical thinking, in a warm, friendly and enthusiastic setting. In the hands-on work the children worked in small groups, where they had to reach agreement — the hardest and most useful part of the day.
Pumpkin Day showed us once again how lovely learning can be when it is guided with passion and joy.
