"Parents' Saturday" at PlusKids was a special day for everyone.
The parents enjoyed eight hours of free time while the children explored the fascinating world of the human body through an absorbing series of educational activities. We talked about the senses, about organs and about how they all work together without our noticing.
A Saturday has an entirely different rhythm from an ordinary after-school day. There is no homework to finish, there is no hurry and nobody is watching the clock for the next lesson. You can stay longer on a single topic, repeat an experiment that did not work and answer at leisure the questions that come up along the way — and with the human body, plenty come up.
The second part, just as important, is that a rested parent is a more patient parent on Monday morning. A Saturday programme is not only an activity for children; it is also practical help for families who rarely get eight hours in a row to themselves.
Smiles and laughter were entirely at home, and every moment spent at PlusKids was full of joy and learning. Further editions of Parents' Saturday followed, with new themes.
