At our magic flowers workshop we "painted" hearts and turned into little researchers.
The children ran a simple experiment with a striking effect: they placed white flowers in coloured water and would watch them over three days. Together we discovered that flowers "drink" water through their stems and that, along with the water, the colour climbs all the way to the petals.
That is where the most valuable part began — and the hardest at their age: waiting. An experiment that gives its result on the spot is fun; one that demands three days of patience teaches children what a scientific observation really is. We set out to watch carefully what changed, how intense the colour became and how the petals looked from one day to the next.
The method is exactly a real researcher's, only at their scale: you ask a question, make a guess, wait and record what you see. And when the result finally appears, nobody needs convincing that it was worth it.
