Spring is coming! We busily made mărțișoare and flowers for mothers at the PlusKids craft workshop.
The end of February is the busiest handicraft period of the whole after-school year. Work is done in batches, which completely changes how the children organise themselves: stages appear, tasks get divided up, and there comes the concern that the second mărțișor should turn out as well as the first.
And working with small materials — thread, paper, glue — exercises exactly the fine motor skills that neat handwriting later depends on. The children do not know that, and it is better so: they are making presents, not doing exercises.
