Friday was an unforgettable day at PlusKids.
The children were treated to delicious cocktails and surprises from the mystery box, with music keeping us company all afternoon. The atmosphere was lively and full of joy.
A day like this is not a break from learning but the part that holds everything else up. A week of school and homework asks for a great deal of concentration, and children do not yet have an adult's means of pacing themselves. A week's end that is celebrated gives them something to look forward to and a clear marker: something finishes here, and something else only starts on Monday.
The mystery box, too, has a purpose beyond the surprise. Nobody knows what will come out of it, so nobody can be disappointed by comparison — and one child's delight spreads quickly to the others. These are the moments when the friendships form that later make the ordinary days easier.
