"The fairies are among us! And their code name is MUM." With that thought the week dedicated to mothers began at PlusKids.
We lovingly made petal jam — an activity that demands patience from the first step to the last. The petals are picked one by one, cleaned, weighed, and then you wait. Nothing can be hurried, and along the way the children understand why one small jar takes so much work.
That is exactly what makes it right for mothers' week. A bought present is handed over and forgotten; one you have worked on for hours takes on, in a child's mind, the value of the time invested in it. And when they give it, they have something to tell as well.
The activities of this week are planned with a great deal of love, as we like to say — but also with care for what they leave behind: working habits, patience and the practice of making something for someone else rather than only for yourself.
