The second day of our second week was a small step for us and a giant leap for our little explorers.
We journeyed around the Moon and discovered its phases: from New Moon to Full Moon and back again. The children learned how the Moon's position relative to the Earth and the Sun changes the shape we see in the night sky. It is one of the few pieces of astronomy a child can verify for themselves, every evening, from a window — and that makes it altogether different from a fact left in an exercise book. We discussed, observed, asked questions and learned together.
After colouring in the phases of the Moon, the little ones moved on to the favourite activity of the day: creative painting with astronauts. Not just any astronauts, but themselves, with their own faces, standing proudly on the lunar surface. Imagination was at the centre of the Universe that day, and every piece came out unique.
A day full of discovery, curiosity and moments where learning wove itself together with play and art.
