We marked World Bee Day in a rather special way: the children at PlusKids discovered the world of the small heroines who give us not only honey but also an essential balance in nature.
We tasted real honey and natural honeycomb. Taste does half the work here: until you chew a piece of comb, the word "wax" stays a textbook notion. We talked about how hard a bee works for such a small amount of honey and about its crucial role in pollination — the mechanism that, at the end of the chain, puts apples in the market and flowers in the yard.
The conversation moved naturally on to what would happen if bees disappeared. At this age, ecology is best understood through concrete links: not "biodiversity", but "without bees, we no longer have this and this". Once the link is visible, care for nature no longer needs teaching — it arrives by itself.
At the end, every child received the PlusKids activity booklet, made by our team and designed to carry the day's curiosity on at home.
Education also means raising children who love and protect the planet. That day we took a step in that direction.
