It was a special day at PlusKids: our children sat the Cambridge exams for the first time in our own centre, PlusKids having become the first Cambridge test venue in Măgurele.
Our young learners took the Starters, Movers, KET and PET exams with a mix of nerves and excitement. The fact that the exam took place in the room where they study every day matters more than it seems: on exam day, an eight- or nine-year-old spends a good part of their energy simply adjusting to an unfamiliar place. When the building, the corridor and the people at the door are all familiar, more attention is left for the task itself.
Cambridge exams are built to measure language in use rather than memorised rules: you listen, you read, you write and you speak. For a child sitting their first ever exam, it is also a first encounter with the idea that effort made month after month shows up somewhere, in a result that does not depend on who is marking it.
A big thank you goes to our teacher Olga Testova, for the professionalism and patience with which she prepared them throughout the year. Their results are her achievement too.
We are proud of the effort and the progress of every one of them.
