They are small but remarkably capable and quick: the youngest learners at PlusKids take up English through play and interactive methods.
At their age English is not studied, it is picked up. A six- or seven-year-old has no patience for a grammar rule, yet effortlessly retains a word they needed in order to get something: a piece, a turn, a point.
The result shows first in the ear and the mouth, not in the exercise book. The children understand what is said to them and answer, mistakes and all, long before they can spell a single word correctly. That is exactly the natural order, the same one in which they learned their mother tongue.
